I understand your concerns about prioritizing--it seems that moms have a never-ending list of things to accomplish on any given day. I'm wondering if you work out of the home, because you mentioned being a single mom. I'll assume that's the case, but if not, feel free to set me straight.
You say you are striving to lead a simple and Godly life. Good for you! The first thought I have is about the "Godly" part. Trust the Lord to meet your needs, and know that He holds you and your children in the palm of His hand. He will help guide, provide, protect, and comfort you. I also know how hard it is with youngsters to find any time for yourself, but do try to make time regularly to read the Word and pray. Ask Him to help you with anything and everything! He loves to hear from His saints, and nothing is too small for His loving concern. If you aren't used to praying as a family, start by saying a prayer of thanksgiving at mealtimes, and then move on from there as you feel led.
Day-to-day scheduling/living is another area where single moms have to prioritize. We can't do everything, so I think it behooves us to do those things that make our home life soothing and secure to the best of our ability. For me, that has been saying "no" to certain opportunities and activities, while at the same time being willing to go the extra mile for our kids when possible and feasible. For myself, I have always loved to have home-cooked meals where the family can gather and visit. We rarely missed a family meal, because that felt like good "glue" that kept us happy and functioning. (Not that I was all that thrilled to cook day in and day out, but I did it anyway, even on the days when it felt like one more chore I had to do and I was tired!) Something else I did for years with my sons was have ongoing read-alouds. We'd pick a book, and in the evenings we'd take turns reading aloud with the whole family in attendance. Those are some great memories! We gardened together, cooked together, and had homemade fun together (like water balloon fights in summer, wandering on our property to see what interesting things we could find, and pizza making or cookie baking). I'm now a grandma, and I still find that the very best memories are made when I simply sit with my grandkids and talk about whatever they want to talk about. The lesson there is, don't get so busy getting things done that you don't have time to enjoy your little ones. It probably doesn't feel like it when you're in the midst of raising them, but kids grow up so fast. So consciously attempt to find the joy in all your daily moments, because those are where many of your best memories are made.
May God richly bless you and your loved ones! I'd say that just the fact that you're striving to live a simple and Godly life means you are no doubt doing just that!
Georgia
Georgiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16122548763904223694noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7930746912146392794.post-79871283728549512862017-08-12T10:08:00.106-07:002017-08-12T10:08:00.106-07:00Good morning! I am now a single mom of four and am striving to lead a simple and Godly way of life. Do you happen to have any advice for someone in my situation? What would you prioritize and being most important? From the podcast I know you are married with four kids, but any advice for a single mom would be so appreciated and valued.

Blessings,

CherieAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08747300936274349897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7930746912146392794.post-11819122359306249332016-09-29T08:20:29.392-07:002016-09-29T08:20:29.392-07:00Hi, Sarah!

I've got a few of my books here at the house and I'd love to mail them to you. I know all about budgets, and I'd find great joy in gifting you. Alas, however, I don't have a copy of my canning book, which I think everyone should have a copy of, but it's currently wildly popular and hard to keep on hand. But you can always purchase it online. My email is georgiavarozza@gmail.com. Do send me your address and I'll stick something in the mail for you!

May God richly bless your life. It does my heart good when we kindred sisters find one another!

Blessings,
GeorgiaGeorgiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16122548763904223694noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7930746912146392794.post-53452965079266215612016-09-29T07:42:15.611-07:002016-09-29T07:42:15.611-07:00Hi Georgia, I have recently found your blog and am...Hi Georgia, I have recently found your blog and am enjoying so many of the posts! Thank you for all of your shared thoughts and helpful information. I particularly enjoyed this old post. As a wife, homemaker, and mom of 2 little boys (ages 3 and 10 months), my days are very full and fun. And, no matter my husband's salary, our hearts' desire is to continue to live a homemade life apart from the pull of this world's push to consume. We're saving for our own home while learning home skills and keeping our daily lives simple.
I really enjoyed your book: What the Amish Can Teach Us About the Simple Life. I hope to read your time saving book and the homestyle, canning, home remedies books. As soon as the budget allows, they are on my wish list.
I look forward to reading more!
Sarah from NMSarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10558882718576845511noreply@blogger.com
